I have an SCPH-18000 (Japanese) model that I bought already moded about two years ago. The modchip on my PS2 doesn't allow me to play DVD-R backups, only CD-R ones. I'm not sure what exact type of a modchip I have but I know it has to be old. I want to play DVD-R backups so I was told before the whole flip-top thing came out that I would have to upgrade my modchip to a newer one. So can I just get the flip-top method to play DVD-R games without changing my modchip or will I need to change by modchip with the flip-top method, etc. Are there any other methods that are cheap that will be able to get my PS2 to play DVD-R backups.
