If I only have the vob files can I make a playable dvd (on a standalone player) that just wouldn't have menus and what not. I am using nero buit I could use other programs.

Nope. You need the IFO and BUP files as well for it to play on a standalone player.

If you're after a "movie only" copy you can use DVD Shrink to re-author the disc and remove the menus. Shrink is also set up by default to automatically use Nero to burn the disc.

can I reauthor the movie so it is movie only even though I only have the vob files?

Edit Yes all I need is the movie. When I go to reauthor though it wont work because it recognizes dvds but not when the bup and ifo files are gone.
