Sony can not guarantee the PSN will not be hacked again

That is true; you can't 100% protect against any attack; however you can be sure there are methods in place to protect against your entire database being taken off, including having someone on hand 24/7 to monitor your security. It may cost more $ on your bottom line, but its money well invested.
Or you can risk losing ? - all your data again.. what the edited does Sony care?

It's not like I prefer a PC but it does offer way more options the Steve Blowjob can offer.
I've said this before, if the Amiga was a viable option I won't look back.
Far as I'm concerned, the Amiga died in the late '80's when Amiga was sold to Commodore.

It's not like I prefer a PC but it does offer way more options the Steve Blowjob can offer.

Also, I'm pretty sure that a lot of people who use apple products know that you can always jailbreak them and run unauthorized applications. So yeah they've known this for quite a while.

REALLY? switch to live. yeah xbox 360 is great. blows paying 60 bucks a year. OH and i forgot youll need to replace your shitty ass broken xbox every 1-2 years. after awhile your warranty will end and you;ll have to pay $100 every time to get it fixed. people who have ps3 have it for a reason. the console is reliable

I understand why people play games online. I was a NFSHII freak.
I'm in the USA... For whatever reason I loved putting it to the Germans.
Now things are out of hand. I just break-out my Logitech G25 and have a go.
Very sad indeed. That's the way of the world in 2011.

You get what you pay for. I will and have gladly payed $60+ a year for xbox live. for better online service.
Sony relyed on its security now it failed and now they dont know what to do or if they can fix it. ( as the title says ) so yes i will keep myself off of psn and on xbox live. im not saying live wont ever be hacked it may some day. But when ya tell your users they cant garuntee your security.... yes i will stay away from that.

Took me 30+ years, 2 $50K degrees and both brow & ass beatings of legendary proportions to figure that out. Been blogging about it ever since. And yet being on what I hope to be your side, feel like I am yelling into an over flowing septic tank.

I think what Sony was talking about, albeit it was a lame way to put it was that "nothing is guaranteed to be hack free", but yeah, they should really think of a better way to encrypt user data to provide the needed security for the millions of accounts there. I don't think they want credit card data and other personal information exposed like that again.

Well, of course not. These Japanese are the top minds (at least console-wise) in the industry, but it's really really bad when you can even install firewalls for you servers. And these guys go to college for this? Please!!!

Not to be argumentative, but could it be that Sony is pulling a BP with their server array? Instead of actually putting hardware firewall solutions in place to keep attacks out, they figure a software solution will work... Whoops!!! the rubber broke!!! and now their left with an abortion that got better and it's chasing them all over the house.
I either blogged about this or moaned about it in one of the other forums about how corporations since the 80s have had the 'maximize the minimum' attitude toward their customers and part of me wants to laugh my ass off as I see those baby boomers start to get that attitude crammed back up their asses as they retire and have it handed back to them (because they taught it to their kids).
The other half of my psyche wants to sit in a clock tower with the scope lowered (is that the FBI at my front door?) 'because' of the new generation having been taught the same behavior & their ignorant asses 'think' they can do it better, yet hopefully some of you folks see the mess going on.
Granted, my theory is just that... and I damn sure am not going to start conspiracy (I almost hate that more). It's just another point of view that could lend itself to a portion of the truth.
