Hey everyone, need some help here if you please. For a good 6 months or so now everytime i state Shareaza for too long or initially it seems my ISP cuts off my data (cap?) or disables my router. On my Lynksys the data red light goes on and my home lan/cable modem doesn't work.

I asked a friend who's computer savy and a longtime p2p user and he said when my modem restarts too many times by itself or my router stops working like that for some reason it's the ISP trying to cap me or stop my p2p usage. He told me to call and complain which usually works for him.

I did and magically everything was fine for a week and breakneck speeds. He aslo suggested that I turn everything off including my tv's for a few hours and i would get a burst of usage which he also does (which also seemed to temporarily solve the problem).

I've also just tried downgrading my inbound address and outbound from the default 350k to 128 kbs and that has seemed to stave off the router disable. Before I did that i could literally watch my WLan light flicker as it was about to be shut off again from my friends SMC router which i borrowed that gave me about a month of uninterupted usage with my P2P.

Any and All help is much appreciated. Thanks a million everyone:)

I'm not a router person so I can't say anything about that. I do know this, cable ISP's usually have Download/Upload caps in place. Are you downloading or uploading over your limit? Some cable ISP's have soft caps, which is when they do not care whether you go over so much as long as you are not abusing the network. If your a download hog, if someone in your neighborhood complains that they are recieving slow service, they will see that you have a high download and cut you off giving you a timeout. I suggest if that is the case, do all your downloading at night, after 11pm, less people are on the internet then.

Now your problem might be something else and I'm totally wrong but I saw your thread and thought I might be able to help. Good luck, I hope you get your problem solved.

Thanks for the advice. I try to keep the downloading between 12am and 6am but some files are just to large. I'll see if they have a cap. thanks a gain:)

Not a problem. Set up your download and go to bed, don't worry about going past 6am just try to avoid heavy downloading between 6pm to 11pm(peak hours). I used to have to do the same thing when I had cable internet. I download alot. I switched isp's. Now I have dsl, less speed but unlimited downloading and uploading. If your provider has soft caps in place try checking out a new isp, it can't hurt to take a peak at what else is out there.

Good luck!
