Extracting soundtrack audio from DVD - music and dialogue separate ?

I am new to posting on AfterDawn, and tried my best
to choose the correct forum for this question. Please
correct/redirect if I am wrong.

Using various programs (DVD Audio Ripper, Smart Ripper,
etc.) to extract the audio from a movie soundtrack
(Once Upon a Time in America) (on 2 DVD set) DVD.

The programs work well, and I have actually extracted
the audio. The problem is - like many movies - this one
has about 10-12 songs in it. But the audio I extract is all mixed... either commentaries, or dialogue with
music in the background, etc. - never just the music
alone - which is all I want.

I read that often on DVDs, just like the separate
directory for the VOB files - TS_Video - there will
be a folder named TS_Audio. But I searched both DVDs
in the set and there is not a TS_Audio folder.

Is it possible that there simply is no such thing
as "songs only" or "music only" files on some DVD
movies - so its just not possible to extract the
actual song files only ?

Or am I still doing something wrong even though the extracting process seems to be working fine ?

No you won't find them separate unless you can play them that way on the original. The AUDIO_TS folder is only for DVD-Audio and has no use for DVD-Video discs.
