I have been trying to download a game from suprnova.org and I am having big problems. I am trying to download C&C generals, I own the game and had it installed on my computer, I needed to free up some space so I deleted it, and now it won't install, it keeps giving me a crazy error message, so I am trying to see if its my copy of the game or if its something else, it is a LEGIT download, I promise. Whenever I try to download something from suprnova I get the same problem, even though there are plenty of seeds and it lists over 100 people downloading I get an error message every time, it says, "problem connecting to tracker - <urlopen error (10061, 'connection refused')> does anyone else have problems like this? And is there anything I can do to fix it? It happens on every download not just on Generals, I tried five or six different games and none work. Its driving me crazy please help me if you can, thanks.

1. Well we cant give specific advice on downloading copyrighted materials as that would be piracy on our part.

You wouldnt have gotten those errors if you did a proper uninstall as opposed to a raw delete. Those errors are coming up from residual registry keys. So id reccomend either doing a manual/automated registry clean or reformatting. A downloaded copy of the game isnt the same as the original so it wont help you isolate that error.
2. Since you own the game, Generals is SafeDisc 2.7 protected:
If you need to burn a SafeDisc2/3 protected game the major consideration is the drive doing the copy; certain drives have certain characteristics that give them an easier time to perform SafeDisc2 copies than others. Such drives are described as being 2-sheep burners. Drives not quite up to the task (however capable of), are described as 1-sheep burners and heaven forbid, 0-sheep burners. So the first thing you need to do is to find out what make/model your burner is and if it is a 2-sheep burner or not. To determine your make and model of your optical drives; if you happen to have Nero Infotools installed, start it up and under the Drive tab, it will list all the relevant specifications and capabilities of your burner. The actual name of your burner is listed in the drop-down box at the top (those numbers before the name of your burner are important too!). You can get InfoTools from http://www.cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm Once you have determined tha name of the burner, head on over to http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/45121 to see if that burner is listed there or not. If it is listed there, it is a 2-sheep burner; if it is not listed there it is not neccesarily a 2-sheep burner but highly unlikely. Now if you have a 2-sheep burner head on over to http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/23699 to find out how to copy a SafeDisc2 protected game. If you are running a 1-sheeper than visit http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/36444 for the appropriate guide.

Well try installing it on another computer, if it works, uninstall it, its a problem with your computer, if it doesnt its a problem with the disc and looks like you will have to purchase it again.

Thanks for the help everyone, and thanks for trying to impress us all with your dry wit, Nephilim. Since you asked, no I don't own those five or six games, I just wanted to see if I could isolate the problem. It turns out those downloads didn't work either, so now I know its not just a problem with that one download. Thanks for the relevent advice Praetor and Cozza, I will try your ideas right away, I wish EA games were as helpful as you guys were, I have emailed them three times with the specific error message and they sent me a notification that they got my email, thats the last I heard from them (this was two months ago). Thanks again for the help guys. Sorry for ragging on you Nephilim, I just wish people would consider the fact that you don't know whats going on in other peoples life, they may be telling the truth, or have a legit reason for downloading a game or two, until you step into someone elses shoes and live a day in their life don't act like you know what they go through.

LOL cut him some slack..... i know where he's comin from -- hang around the forum enough and ya will hear damn near every single story in the book ... which as it is, is against forum rules hehe. In all honesty, when I first read through your post, it seemed exactly like another "cover story" lol ... glad we could help though heheh
