hey doods, I really messed up something on my comp. I was doing something with ForceASPI for some reason and it installed. Then I did the check and it said some helper driver was not working. Now I am looking in <<My Computer>> and I dont see my CdRW or My DVD drive. That.... kinda sux. Actually it really sux. I know someone here must know the cure. I dont think Reinstalling WinXP is plausible, messed up discs. I could work under linux for the rest of my life, but that would mean learning shell script, so I will stick to windows for now. Its a windows problem, not hardware, I think they show up in the BIOS, I am pretty sure it has to do with ASPI layers and whatnot. Thanks.

For an ASPI guide have a look at http://www.hazza.dsl.pipex.com/faq.htm#ASPI Other than that cant really say anything because for all the stuff you've typed, you actually havnt told us anything aside from the fact you are running some version of windows and you have at least two optical drives
I did that, didnt work
I went to Device Manager, "!" near the Optical Devices. Says "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

1. Check that the drives are still physically connected to the mobo both via IDE and power
2. Check that somehow the other IDEO channels didnt get deactivated in BIOS
3. Uninstall the drives in windows and reboot. Let windows try and fix itself

I dont think ASPI affects the whether or not the drives show up in Explorer or not but ya never know, ASPI is wierd. You might need to look into something called KillASPI
