Sony temporarily removes movies from Netflix

Netflix has reported today that Sony has temporarily pulled its movies from the company's streaming library, due to a dispute with Starz.
Says the company:

Ha!
I do own a multiple flash 16-1 card reader/writer that was re-badged with the Sony name However, it was manufactured in China. So obviously Sony leases their name like many companies do these days. Sony no longer builds their own audio/video equipment. That stopped in the late 1980's. It is all outsourced since then.
So should I throw the card read/writer in the garbage.
Fuck Sony!

Exactly how many issues is Phony going to have this year? I'm glad I stopped purchasing their products. It's a shame Netflix is suffering from them as well, especially since they're battling their own problems with the PEE-S3 interface.

@baxter00 this happens all the time with licensing & company's this must be the 10th story this year I have read about a company pulling there stuff.

If folks keep hacking them who knows.
What this hacking really does is show how vulnerable servers are regardless how many condoms they use. if it's (as you say) Fhoney or other major corporations it doesn't matter. If somebody has a beef with you, stick a fork in them and call it a day.
A twelve year old kid can hack any site if they feel motivated enough. Sony is a huge target for various reasons. Apple used to fly under the RADAR pretty well until their market share reached a point where it was advantageous for hackers to do, "dirty deeds done dirt cheap."

By all accounts, Netflix and Stars are the only ones getting this crap right. Growth and popularity are through the roof! Netflix is everywhere and everyone loves them. They are a complete success story.
So it doesn't surprise me at all that Sony is effing up.

Now instead of we so called, "little people" Sony is shooting themselves in the foot.
I was wondering when something like the hoopla that is going on today would happen.
I don't wish any harm to anybody but these money making dollars-at-all-cost greedy Mfers,are now getting their just desserts.
Spending millions trying to bust Joe Sixpack is just plain wrong. Sony and the like should either donate the money to a worthy cause or make quality movies.
They need to take the index finger and point it at themselves.
Some of the workers at these company's are releasing movies and music behind their backs. Yes I do know.....

Sony is at it again... Didn't I just make a comment about history repeating itself on another of the forums earlier? And now Sony want's to own Netflix?
I would almost call this a comedy writing itself if it weren't for the slasher film that keeps getting slid in instead.

Yes, and like I said I cancelled my Netflix sub about three months ago. I see were this crap is all heading to. Steaming only no hard copies.
That's okay, I'll just purchase the Blu-Ray disk if I feel the need.
Only run the original once to make a back-up then store it.

Yup, that's exactly what I did about 5/6 months ago. Had premium membership. Took forever to get movies (both for them to actually 'get' the titles & for them to send them to me) and then garbage for actual streaming. Not to mention between breaks and buffering with my cable service (and I pay out the ass for 20mb service), just what the hell am I getting?
Nope... I'm with you. Purchase, back-up, storage. Because what the hells going to happen when the power goes out?

Jeff & Lord...Netflix is great for me; shipping is super-fast and the steaming is great. The last Sony movie I can think of that I wanted came out in 1998.
If they are purchased by Sony, I will cancel immediately.

I'm not knocking it down for everybody... just in my area and for my specific use and purposes, which happens to be the armpit of the nation, it just didn't happen to work out.
To use a tired movie cliche, it's great when plan comes together. The depleted economical area that I'm in just isn't conducive to making the whole package work, so using me a survey consultant for their demographic study would throw their bell curve way the hell off.
That's all I was saying... like always, it just didn't get said earlier.

Bug it's all about personal preference. If you like it, use it. Maybe I'm a bit more political which is my motivation. I was a member of Netflix from the begging in 1996. At that time it was fun. easy to use and major corporations like Sony were invisible.

Yeah Netflix is a great service for me. But I can understand that it can be a comletely different experience if you live in Montana (or somewhere equally tragic). Btw no offense to anyone from Montana. Great place to live!

I am sure lots of people love Montana from a geographical/weather aspect...but it must be torture having to go online with DSL...I remember when cable modems were only twice as fast as current DSL...it was torture back then, and that was before high quality streaming. I'm not saying current internet is fast or anything; my 30MBPS/30MBPS plan won't let me do many of the things I would like to do, but at least I can stream movies while downloading files and surfing the web.
