PayPal hits 100 million active users

PayPal has confirmed this week that the service has reached 100 million active users.
Additionally, the company notes that it expects total payment volume for mobile payment transactions to double in 2011 to $3 billion.
The service adds around 1 million active users per month, apparently, as it finished 2010 with 94.4 million.

that's funny, I wasn't aware this service was that bad. That sucks that you feel that way though. I send and receive money just fine with no problems and with no mysterious funds disappearing without my knowledge. So I'm curious as to how you feel "all of Us" are getting raped by PayPal.

He's probably upset that PayPal takes 6% of eBay seller transactions. Fact of the matter is if you don't like it, then accept money orders or checks or whatever else is available. PayPal offers a fantastic service, and they charge for it. That is capitalism.

To be fair though eBay has gone out of their way to deem any form of payment other than Paypal as unsafe. You're not even allowed to mention that you accept Money orders or checks in your listing.
It's a good service, but when it comes to eBay you don't really have a choice.

PayPal takes too much from those that don't know how to sell on ebay. Been selling on ebay for ages and paying them dust particles for fees...
An item sold for $100 with a $5 shipping- Paypal(ebay) takes X% of sale price. they don't charge on shipping fees.
An item sold for $5 with a $100 shipping, Paypal takes same X% of the sale price. For the buyers, makes no difference, they still have to pay a total of $105. You figure it out, do the math...

While my hatred for paypal isn't entirely based on the fees, they do add to it. Ebay owns paypal yet paypal charges for ebay transactions, classic example of double dipping. I've had several problems with paypal lately which I'm unwilling to go into as they are not yet resolved. It all adds up to one big bendoverandtakeit.
@cyprusrom: Under the guise of protecting buyers from outrageous shipping ebay has recently changed their policy on fees. You are now charged 10% of the final sale value as well as 10% of the final shipping value. So no matter how you list your item you pay them exactly the same. Paypal currently takes up to 3% of the total sale (value + shipping) and then tacks 30 cents onto that number. So if you sell an item on ebay for $100 and charge $5 for shipping you pay ebay $10.50 and you then paypal takes up to $3.45. So you keep right on selling just like you always have (like a tool) and they'll start charing you accordingly now that the policies have changed. Btw asshats like you are the reason for the change because ebay saw a golden opportunity to make more money and the rest of us have to suffer for it.
But I digress, PayPay is just bad news and I doubt it will be long before a classaction suit is files against them and ebay for their practices.

I sure hope someone does do a class action suit because we sell on e-bay also. their new policy sucks rotten eggs and the chinese had a lot to do with it. china junk cost 0.1 cent with 5.99 shipping, hence e-bay ripping everyone with fees on final value and shipping now also.
sure did cut into our profit margin so now we charge more for shipping just to cover the frickin fees.
cyprusrom you been under a rock someplace because the new policy has been in effect for 2 months.

True in a way. They normally only do this for money orders and checks. They really can't say that about sellers processing their own credit cards since that is the pot calling the kettle black. While Paypal prices may seem outrageous compared to say a check or money order if you ever tried to get a merchant account from authorize.net or one of the many other competitors you will realize how much a deal Paypal is. The bottom line is that credit card companies and even some banks charge a processing fee. Paypal is pushing this onto the customer and some. This is how they make money.

Meh. I've never sold on ebay, so it all doesn't bother me. Paypal works just fine in my cases, but I don't really do anything to actually need the service, it's just a convenience.
