Xbox 360 to get boost in graphics?

article published on 30 June, 2011

Xbox 360 will join PS3 with morphological anti-aliasing features. Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3) console can take advantage of morphological anti-aliasing (MLAA) operations when rendering HD graphics. By removing forms of "jagged edge" pixelation, this can help to make high-detailed graphics look as smooth and as realistic as possible (though it does have its problems too). Modern PC graphics ... [ read the full article ]

Yeah, but it will still run games on SD DVD. So now games will be on 17 DVD's instead of 2

....What? Where did you get that idea? if anything i'd be more worried about my Xbox360 melting to my TV stand. Imagine all the extra heat that GPU's gonna be pushing out.

More of the same really.

Xbox and PS3 are to all intents and purposes identical in what they can do with the exception of Blu-ray which has clearly only been used to stuff games with 1080p cut scenes and not bigger games at all.

Barring periodic minor tweaks I think this is it for the 2 of them (as said in another posting).
We have a little wait until 2013 and the new consoles appear.
The sad thing is that at this stage in both console's lifecycle the gap between a decent PC is huge.

Hey if its melting the TV stand that's a good thing, it means the heat is actually being exhausted from the chassis ;-) The problem is when you are playing Xbox 360 all night and the room temperature hasn't increased somewhat, then you know you have a problem ;-)

Although it's nowhere near as bad with the slim, some of the older XBox 360 consoles are insane. I have a Nov 2005 model (one of 4 I currently have) and it puts out wicked amounts of heat. Before though it didn't, and it used to overheat (two red lights), until I opened and replaced the dismal stock thermal paste with arctic silver, and built a customized fan shroud so I could dedicate a fan to both heatsinks... I also cut the metal mesh from the rear of the internal metal case... now after a few hours gameplay, im betting I could cook something with the heat being exhausted :P

The fan speed stays very low though, so thats a good thing, means the chips are being cooled very well :-)

yeah i got an November 06 Model, its still going strong. i lost my 05 model in 06 of September odd eh. the first thing i did when i got the working one back i ripped it apart cut off that useless aluminum shielding, added some Heat Pipes and installed a nice 120mm case fan directly above it. ...i don't use it for gaming much any more less there's a decent exclusive that catches my eyes, or if ever get bored of my gazzilion PC shooters.

your right for the most part the older 360s bake themselves from the inside. the vented heat gets hot enough to roast hot dogs in about an hours worth of gameplay.....don't ask me how i know that.

Too funny, I have a launch 80gb PS3 and what you said made me chuckle because I SWEAR that thing could heat a small bedroom. My 360 get hot, but it doesn't chug heat like that PS3 does. PS3's just get scary hot.
