I have a version 9 (silver) ps2 fitted with a Messiah 2.It wont play any dvd films original or back-ups.Re-chipped with no luck,can anybody shed any light on this problem.Thank-you.

You know that you have to actually put it in DVD mode for it to play DVD's right? I think you have to hold the eject button for 5 seconds on start up.
