I have accidentially deleted the source video (created on iMovie) for a home movie. I have a DVD and a SVCD which was burned from the quicktime video. Anyway to convert back to the quicktime format so that I can burn another DVD?

Thanks for the help.

I don"t really understand your Problem??Why would you have to convert a DVD or SVCD to Quicktime to make another SVCD or DVD?? Just copy the DVD you allready Have...
Maybe explain your problem and what you are trying to do in More detail...

You dont need to convert back to quicktime to make another video just copy your dvd or SVCD and reburn it. You said, "Anyway to convert back to the quicktime format so that I can burn another DVD?"
This doesnt make sense for two reasons: 1. is that DVD's are not quicktime files they are mpeg2 files. 2. is that why would you convert backwords so you can reconvert it again to DVD, this dont make sense at all.

Thanks for the responses. Here is what I am trying to do. I have several videos for which I am using iDVD to burn to DVD. I am missing the original video in quicktime for one, but have a SVCD of the missing video. I want to put the SVCD onto the DVD compilation. Hope this is clearer.

Thanks,
dB

So you want to put SVCD onto the dvd so use this guide:

If you want to Mix DVD Footage with SVCD Footage on the Same DVD then that guide will not help...You will Have to actually re-encode the SVCD Footage to a DVD Compliant Mpeg2, This will Totally Degrade the Quality of the SVCD Footage because you will be resizeing the resolution allmost 100% and Re-compression which will degrade the Quality quite a Bit..
You can use One of Many Mpeg encoders to encode the SVCD Files to DVD(Tmpgenc ,MainConcept Encoder, Canopus Procoder, CCE SP) then you can use a Good Mpeg editor like the Womble Mpeg Video Wixzard or Mpeg2VCR to edit the new footace into the DVD footage and once it has been arranged to your Likeing you can author the files to DVD useing the DVD Authoring Program of your Choice.....

Minion has the right idea. But I'm trying to preserve the resolution. Thanks for the help. I'lll have to be more careful on the deletion of the files, that's the learning here.

Well there is no way arround it is you want to Mix DVD and SVCD Footage on the Same DVD-r.. You can Put SVCD Files on DVD-R without re-sizeing the resolution and you can do the same with DVD Files but to Mix them together both files must have the same resolution and seeing as SVCD"s are 480+480/576-PAL and DVD"s are 720+480/576-PAL then you will have to either Up size the resolution of the SVCD Files to DVD resolution or Down size the DVD Files to SVCD resolution to make a DVD that will Play properly..
Seeing as Upsizeing the resolution has a More negitive effect than Dow sizeing the Resolution then it might be worth it to Down size the Resolution of the DVD Files to SVCD Resolution as opposed to Upsizeing the SVCD Files to DVD resolution....Just a Thought....Cheers
