HTC has announced an investment in Beats Electronics, the headphone maker. The financials have not been released, but rumor has it HTC has spent around $500 million to purchase a 51 percent controlling stake in Beats. I have to quote Skillz to sum up what I think about Beats by Dre.

Quote:
"Detox" was gettin recorded
and Dre put out some headphones
but he was the only one that could afford 'em

the 'beats' brand is a joke in the audio world.

The headphones sound like crap compared to other industry standard headphones.
I'd like to know what the fook 'audio technology' they're going to implement within a phone. If its bass / treble boost, its not a new technology... its called an EQ.

Dr Dre is about as tech-savvy as a turnip... When I pay $300 for a set of head phones they perform to the professional level they cost.

He can take his Beats & beat off for all I care. Overpriced garbage just like the $150 tennis shoes of the 80s. Nothing more than crap to hang off your body & show how stupid you were to purchase overpriced crap that won't last real world usage.

If you have the money to spend on crap like this, then educate yourself & purchase "real" professional equipment. I'll even bet Dre himself doesn't use this crap to master mix his stuff.

Maybe HTC should look to Sennheiser or Yamaha if they want to start playing the audiophile game.

Dr Dre is fine at producing entertainment, the equipment he's putting his name on is utter shite.

It's like I have had to argue with entertainers in the past... You do the entertaining & let me worry about the sound geer. You studied to be an entertainer, I studied to be a sound engineer. You sing, I mix; otherwise you would see the band doing all the sound mixing from on the stage & not FOH (Front Of House or mixing their own monitors).

Very FEW entertainers can do both. It's like an actor thinking he can direct a film or TV show. Only infinitesimally few can do both and even more rare can they do both at the same time.

Dre needs to stick to producing & entertaining and worry less about equipment design.

I've read that $50 Skull Candy headphones blow any price range Beats out of the water? True? (I don't own either)

My experience with Skull Candy is basically the same as Beats. Overpriced for what they are, they're basically the iPod of the earphone world. I'd rather spend my money on some quality Sennheisers as mentioned before.

Im not a sound engineer or even an audiophile for that matter, but even I can tell that these earphones are sub-par for what they are.

(See Dre? I can rap too. Word)
