Playback Problems in Philips DVD

I have a problem with my Philips Magnavox 825 DVD player. I recently noticed it won't play VCD discs well, the image is fine but the sound is choppy, I almost can't hear a thing and sometimes it goes back a few seconds. I have a similar problem with DVDs, sometimes the scene freezes and one or two seconds later, it comes back to normal. I have tried several DVDs and VCDs (even some new), and they all have the same problem. I already used a Lens Cleaner Disc, but the problem stays the same. Can anyone help?
