A newb problem.....

I followed instructions and still managed to screw it up... I am
trying to backup Pirates of the Carribean. I imported it to my
harddrive with a program called dvdbackup, removed CSS and
the Microvision thingy and set the region code to 0. I then
used DVD2oneX to convert the 7.5 gig movie to a 4 gig
movie and ripped the VIDEO_TS folder onto a blank dvd
named the same as the original..... Problem, when I put it into
my comp it reads it, mounts it, opens dvd player but wont
run.... I kno DVD2oneX did a good job b/c I tested the
VIDEO_TS file under DVD player and it will run fine (even if i
select the file that is on the burnt disk), it just doesnt want to
auto play the disk. It wont work in my dvd+r compatible dvd
player on my tv either... Can some1 plz plz tell me what I did
wrong?

DVD +R media not -R (its still supposed to work on my comp

what kind of burner do you have? I think it's your problem is your burning process. Most burners and dvd-roms will read all formats.

I think it's Roxio. I used to have Roxio 6, and the one thing I noticed is it only worked in pc's that have roxio(at least for me). Do you have Nero? If not, I suggest downloading the trial version and try to burn your video_ts file. Or you could try DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter (both free). Try to backup Pirates of the Carribean, if it works you would know for sure it's Roxio.

I'm not saying Roxio Toast is bad(never used it), but your process may be wrong :) Good luck, hope this helps.

If you download Nero be sure to get rid of roxio, if that's what you have, first. They are NOT compatible and cause havoc for a lot of people if left to coexist. I, like flip, recommend Nero of the two.

It ended up being the method that I was using to burn. I found this great little free program called DVD Imager that creates a burnable dvd image! Its great b/c u can test the encoding before you burn it just by mounting the disk image... I still use Roxio Toast though, it worx fine.
