Hello all

I'm new to the site and I apologise if this post has been answered elsewhere - I did check all the place recommended in the posting rules.

We have recently upgraded to cable and have also installed a hub so that my father can use the cable connection on his computer upstairs. I have previously used WinMX with no dramas but now suddenly noone seems to be able to connect (upload) from either myself or my fathers computer. As it is a file sharing app I want people to be able to upload from me.

Can anyone suggest why this is suddenly occuring?

With cable, to split the connection without using software, you need a router rather than a hub. DSL can (sometimes) be done with just a hub/switch but cable in most cases requires a router

It's possible that I'm just trying to talk like I know what I mean and we actually do have a router. If that is the case, would that explain why we now seem to find it really difficult to download from WINMX and others find it impossible to download from me?

Is there something I need to change in the settings?
