Next Android update to be called "Jelly Bean"?

article published on 10 September, 2011

Although unconfirmed, it appears Google's eventual successor to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be called "Jelly Bean." Sources speaking to ThisIsMyNext say Jelly Bean will be the next version of the OS after this November's launch of ICS, although other sources have claimed Jelly Bean is in a very short list and has not been selected yet. ICS is said to be a huge release, with "major ... [ read the full article ]

ICS is said to be a huge release, with "major architectural, functional, and design changes," and will not be a rehashed Gingerbread or Honeycomb like critics worry.

The question I have is how is the GUI going to differ between tablets and phones? I fear this will simply turn Android tablets in to over grown smart phones like the iPad is to the iPhone or the 1st Gen Samsung Galaxy Tab running Froyo.

Android tablets are overgrown smartphones, without the phone part. The only real difference is screen size, and that tablet CPU/memory specs are usually 6-9 months ahead of smart phones. Anyway, if you don't like it, there is always root. Once you are rooted you can change stuff around however you like.

Your missing my point, a tablet running Froyo/Gingerbread is the same thing as my phone(Droid 2 Global running CM7) just bigger and maybe better specs, but the Zoom, since it runs Honeycomb, has a completely unique GUI which is unavailable, officially, on a smart phone. It is designed for the large screen space of a tablet.
