Some previously burned DVDs that I try to back up have empty VIDEO_TS folders. This makes it impossible for DVD Backup to copy it to the hard drive. Also, the DVD mounts as some odd name: 030803_1418 for example.

Does anyone have a solution to this? Has anyone else come across this problem before?

Well the name sounds like you didn't change the volume label when you burned the disc initially, so that's no big deal. I forget to do that occasionally myself. The empty VIDEO_TS folder, on the other hand, is obviously a problem since that's what you're trying to copy. Do these discs play alright in a standalone? Have you tried reading them with another drive? Are they -R or +R and what brand?

The disk plays on the Mac. I don't know who burned it before me, that's just the way I got it. None of my backups have volume labels like that. The trouble is, despite the empty VIDEO_TS folder, the disk plays but cannot copy. I don't think it's the brand because I have backed up others with the same wierd 030803_1418 whatever name, and they were all the same brand.

What's the problem here?

I'm not a Mac expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm sure the volume label has nothing to do with your problem. If it plays then I'd agree it's not a media issue, and therefore outside my experience since I'm a PC guy. That's why you won't see me in the Mac forums very often. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Hi, I'm having the same problem but I'm using an HP AMD athlon(tm) XP2200, 1.80ghz, 992mb ram and 30 gig hard drive, I use dvd x copy platinum to back up my orginals but I lost some of my originals so I'm trying to back up a back up. My backups play fine on normal dvd players but my computer will not reconize the disk, I have also tried Nero 6 to back up a back up but it shows that my video_ts folder is empty. Any imput would be appreciated, thanks
