CD Burning Problem - Help!

Hi - i recently started having problems burning cd's. things would progress fine then at some random point the burning process would stop but the cd would keep spinning in the drive, and i cant eject the disc without a reboot. This first happened with the nero 6.3, so i reverted back to 5.5 and lo and behold it happened again (in fact spinning disc still in drive, halted at 60%). This has happened with audio and iso's. I've never had cd buring problems before so i dont know where to start. Oh, i have also completed succesful burns when i went back to 5.5. Any ideas? thanks in advance!

edit: actually it might just be audio... so i'm converting the mp3's to wav out of nero to see if that helps.
