That's 16 billion songs that people won't be able to use on anything other than an Apple device. Just know, that if you want to leave Apple, you will be leaving all of those songs you payed for and everything else their proprietary system chains you to.

While that is true, you have to note that they do offer DRM-free music now, granted its at a premium...
