The CyanogenMod team has ported Android to the HP TouchPad, but the devs are encouraging you not to download it yet.
In public alpha, the ROM is still very buggy, and the devs say most apps probably still don't work.
For now, ClockWorkrecovery, multiboot support, ten-point multitouch, functional WiFi, camera support for video chat and limited GPU acceleration are working now, but are ... [ read the full article ]

"LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS" EDITION
*** This early version represents the start of a process, not the end, and as such will not be sufficiently awesome, so take any expectations you have and lower them. Now lower them about five feet below that. ***
This cracked me up

All I really care about right now is Netflix. I can't believe there isn't a WebOS app for that.

I agree, which is frustrating because in a lot of HPs promotional stuff for the Touchpad they actually say they do

I am very glad that all my $100 orders got canceled due to lack of stock...I don't think it is worth that much anymore.

Not really...I just realized that I would never use one. I guess I could have sold them on craigslist or maybe used the screen for a project of some kind, but I still don't see why anyone would want a tablet with no 4G (heck, not even 3G) when that person has a basic laptop and a 4G android phone with wifi tethering.

Holy crap. While I feel that it's obviously okay to buy and resell, I think it's unethical to do it. HP should have put a limit of 2 or so per customer so everybody could have gotten one. I bet there were people who ordered 1000 or so and there are people who can't afford a "real" tablet.
I ordered 2. I used the first one and didn't open the 2nd one. Even for $150 (32GB), webOS sucks.

Buying and reselling is a core principal of capitalism. Other than slaves, human organs, and anything sold using false advertising, I see nothing unethical about it. Heck, I don't even have a problem with illegal drug dealers...their markups are high but their risks are high and their products do exactly what they claim to do...unless they are not selling what they claim to be selling, but that goes back to the false advertising exception.

Which tutorial did you use? I'm stuck on the part where I need to start the installer via PC.

I got stuck a few times. For me, the key was to reinstall the novacom drivers and then place the ACMEinstaller in the install folder for the novacom. I also had to install the 32bit version of the novacom for it to work. The 64bit is what i had to begin with, but it would say "could not connect to sever".
So I installed the 32bit novacom drivers, put the update files (moboot, cm7, and CWM) in a folder called "cminstall" on my Touchpad, placed ACMEinstaller in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Palm, Inc then opened a command prompt from that folder and run:
novacom.exe boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller
This worked for me and took about 5-10 minutes.

for all the dire warnings about installing this, so far my only glitch has been that sometimes the sound doesn't come on when I load up CM7, but it is easily fixed by toggling the sound off and then back on. I am very happy, i was SO sure i would screw something up and brick it.

It's probably really hard to brick it. I hated the Cyanogenmods readme, it was so hard to read. No new lines. Come on!
