I guess there's a chance of this happening if you have cheap media, but if you use some good quality media i wouldnt have thought it would be a problem.

Cheers.

Yes, but is there a difference between cheap and inexpensive? I've been using Ritek which passes most compatibility tests and its certainly inexpensive, but I have no idea if it is considered cheap with a short lifespan.

The term "cheap" can get misinterpereted. I'd venture to say that DMW was implying "low-quality".

As a general rule the cheapest media (pricewise) also tends to give the poorest results relative to the more expensive quality like Verbatim Metal AZO, Taiyo Yuden and Maxell. The Riteks tend to blur the line since they are good quality and very affordable too.

And to make things confusing, price isn't always a reliable indicator since many of the big-box electronics stores like to charge a crapload of money for poor quality media, yet you can find great deals on the good stuff all around the net.

Thanks for that Nephilim, couldnt reply earlier, but, yes, thats what I was getting at.

Riteks can be bought cheap, but they are not poor quality.

A friend of mine bought 25 DVD-r "unbranded" for £5.99, needless to say, the one or 2 he did get working and verified, don't read anymore! Now, they were poor quality :)

And I totally agree with you on the big store thing, here in the UK I get people telling me they only use "good quality" media from Dixons or PC World, only to find they have been led astray by the "knowledgeable" sales staff.

Cheers Guys.
