Is ther a utility to format a non-sony HDD, if so where might i be able to find it?

I heard that u can patch some games so it recognizes the HDD, is this true?

Can game datta be saved directly to the HDD, or do u have to do it from the memory card then to the HDD?How?

HD Loader is not the tool you need for this task. You will need the ps2ownz HDD tool which they seem to be stingy with these days. I think they have it available for download in their IRC forum.
