I am having a HP-CD Writer 7200e English Asia (C4381 - 12009 ) along with the software Adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.01a and Adaptec DirectCD 2.0. I have purchased the CD-Writer in 1999.
Till recently, I was able to rewrite on
CD-RW CDs more than 5-6 times, i.e. add sessions on a single rewritable CD more than 5 times. But now, I am unable to write on a RW CD more than once. That is, the CD-Writer is treating every RW CD as a CD-R. I can only write once on a RW CD. I have tried
uninstalling the Adaptec software and installing it again. I have also tried to erase the RW CD, but I get the error message 'Disk full'. Also the 'Erase disk ' button remains disabled.
I am using HP RW CDs. As a result, I am losing a lot of RW CD's.
I would appreciate any help regarding this problem.
I am using 650 MB CD's(RW). My problem is, I am unable to rewrite(write more than once) on a CD-RW, whether a blank CD, or a CD on which I have already written to. Previously, I had been able to rewrite on a CD-RW at least 6 times. The CD-Writer is treating all CD's, whether CD-R or CD-RW as CD-R.
If you burn CD-RW media with e.g. a VCD format, you can close the cd and for example read it on a DVD player. Such a closed CD will not be treated like a CD-RW, but like a CD. You have to Re-format such a CD in (I think in your case) CD-Direct, sitting in your systems tray, in order to re-introduce the UDF data format (So it can be treated like a big floppy). This happened to me a couple of times. Check that this does not happen with your cd. (Unfortunately I have Nero burning software, which works a bit different than Adaptec's. Hope this helps.
