If I use a modded PS2 to only play backuped dvd-r or dvd+r how long will my PS2 laser last usually? I heard the ps2 laser break quickly when you play backups dvd, but I want to know how fast does the laser break? Thanks.

It all depends on what media you use, if you use good quality it will last the life of the ps2, but poor quality and it wil wear out really quickly, use media like verbatim or datasafe gen 4. My ps2 has lasted me over a year now, my first three broke within two weeks just playing origanals lol.

My V9 PS2 is 2 weeks old, I had to replace laser three days after installing Matrix Infinity.

thats part of the v9.10 syndrom , sony is selling new ps2s with bad lasers . you would have had to replace it even if you never modded it . happens to about 10-20% of new ps2s in my experience ..

My PS2 is v7, so my laser is better than v9 and v10? How long does a v7 laser last typically if I use good brand dvd+r and dvd-r?

I think maybe also because I burn my discs at high speed, which I heard it wears out the laser when reading.
