Nicky,

You need to do a forum search and read what others have written about putting labels on their dvds. Some have found that problems may arise after putting a printed label on their discs.

Paper labels can unbalance your CD/DVD Roms because of their incredible rotational speeds and cause all kinds of read errors. In extreme cases the CD can cause damage to players. I would recommend that you get printable media or a few really good sharpies (my favorite) and practice your calligraphy.

Perhaps that last sentence could have been a little kinder.

I don't see anything cynical about my reply, I really do use sharpies and nothing else, you really should stay away from paper labels because they really do unbalance your drives, and if you have to decorate then get printable media and a printer to match. The word calligraphy just means beautiful handwriting.

To someone new to this hobby I can see how the advice given thus far seems cynical but I can assure you it is very well intentioned and comes from experience so don't be so quick to snap at them:) Run a forum search for "dvd labels" like roeod4 suggested and you'll see.

If you're using Nero's cover designer, select the DVD Case template. Now there should be tabs at the bottom left for Case, Insert and Disc. Select Disc and look for the drop-down menu at the top towards the right where it should say "Normal Paper", if you click the arrow to drop the menu there will be a huge list of different brands of sticky labels. Select the brand you're using and it should print the label correctly after you import the image.

Hi-As for labeling your DVD's, I too have had great success w/ a 'sharpie' pen & didn;t think that guy's suggestion was rude-it works. So b-4 u debuck a reply, i suject u try it, until then stop the negativity. My next suggestion is "MediaFace 4.01" at
http://mediaface.neato.com

It's a small company(located in East Haven, Conn. my old hometown) with a GREAT (acturally the BEST !) program for making lables. It's user friendly and the best bang-4-your-buck. AND their tech support is outstanding as they will stay on the phone w/ you until any issue is solved--even beyond their workday. I know this 1st hand.
While I am on the subject for the BEST bang-4-the-buck deals--please go to http://www.shop4tech.com/
for the BEST prices for blank DVD's. Their service is as good as their prices & that's why I've been dealing w/ them for over 2 years now !!! When you Call, just tel them "HOLLYWOOD" Don Taylor sent you. you won't get a discount & neither will I but I will get tha extreme satisfaction of helping all of you-save your hard eraned $$$. I sincerely hope this helps you all. GO SOX !

Thanks for your time & help ahead of time.
Please avoid compUSA's tech dept--they will rip you off--they train their techs to "PAD" your issues.

Sorry nicky2004

A sharpie is permanent ink marker that comes in a medium size with a good pen grip. It's used to write directly to the surface of the disk.

We're a patient bunch but we can't always know when posts are made by someone who speaks another language. But we are getting better.

Continue to ask your questions and we'll continue to try to answer them.

I haven't heard any bad about printing on directly onto the disk, and there's new media and printers to support it. The sharpie is not as colorful and as pretty but it's easy to use, doesn't add any off centered weight to cause errors, and it is very inexpensive.
