Apple's iOS update to fix the battery life problems plaguing some iPhone owners hasn't done the job for everyone.
Numerous posts to the thread for the issue on Apple's support forums complain that the fix has not changed anything. A few people have even said the problem is worse with iOS 5.0.1.
These forum posts do not tell us how effective the fix has been overall. As anyone who has ... [ read the full article ]

Siri is off, locations is off, iCloud is off, 3G is off, Photo streaming is off, My screen brightness is all the way down. I even turned Auto brightness off. I started this morning with a full battery ( 100% ) and now I have 90% no calls, only texting, and all the above is OFF. I guess the only thing left to do, is turn the ph OFF!
Actually I read an article the other day on cnet about one of the writers who supposedly went to an apple store and the genius told him just that. You have to turn off your phone.Lol. He said but I use it as an alarm, the genius then said well if you can afford a $400 device, you can afford the alarm clock. So you may indeed may have to turn off your phone, even though that's really inconvenient and apple has had 18 months to get this phone as smooth as a crisp.
Strange, I've never had antennagate problems or the battery life issue when upgrading to ios 5, but I realize not everyone is as fortunate. you never really hear about these issues with other manufacturers who have been producing multiple phones. Then again apple have over 4 million new devices on the market right now after a month of its debut.

I think there a small batch of phones are out there with this issue. I have a VZ one 32gb with icloud turn on for contacts, calandars and reminders and bookmarks. Siri is on. Battery life is good, compared to the BB I had. The battery life suffers a bit when I play iheart radio for a couple of hours, but that is to be expected.

Why not just ask Siri "What's draining my battery"?

Same here, My iPhones ALWAYS did some crap like this when the next new model came out. I will bet my life that Apple does this on purpose. Isn't it convenient that a disabling, device crippling firmware ALWAYS comes out just after the launch of the next new iPhone???
I got sick of the B.S. games and just got an Android. I love it and every firmware is an improvement to the phone not a marketing ploy. I'm not ever going back to the iPhone...and I've had one since the launch.

So your willing too say that you dont have a car charger our mini USB cable at your desk at work? Dont get me wrong I have an Android phone as well, and owned two iPhones in the past. But the battery life on any touch screen smart phone isnt the best in the world. The iPhone isnt any different. And for apple or any fan boy to think different is just pain crazy. But I do have to agree... the iPhone 4s isnt worth anything near 400.

The battery shouldn't drain as fast as these people are describing even if you are running tons of apps at once...we are talking about a phone with a small screen, a slow processor, and no LTE...it should run for days on a charge.
From the sounds of it, they just got a bad batch of batteries. Unfortunately for the customers, you can't replace them without voiding the warranty, and Apple will probably never do a recall.

I think if it's not a battery supplier issues (i.e. bad batches/suppliers) affecting certain units, it must be something that only happens with certain apps. I know almost a dozen people w/ the new iPhone who aren't having any problems at all with it (well, there were 1 or 2 Siri-related complaints, but nothing major). So again, it sounds like something only affecting around 5% or less of users...for whatever reason.

I have a 3gs... Before iOS5, I could go 2 days without needing to charge. Now, I'm down to 50% withing hours, and 5.1 fixed nothing! I charged my phone to 100%, locked the screen, and went to bed....By morning, it was at 62%.
It can't be a bad batch of batteries, because this is affecting even older devices. They know it's software related, just not which part of the OS, or maybe they do and don't want to "turn it off".

Dunno what's going on there, but I can verify a 3GS running 5.0.1 as only dropping to 96% over 12 hours in 'standby' mode...and 90% over 27 hours.

It's always something with Apple junk, and people just continue to buy the next one, and make excuses all the way.
