2. dvd loader now boots press eject and swap for orginal ps2 high toc cd or maybe your swap magic cd press eject to send back in
3. wait for it to say ps2 cd in lower left tv then press x
4. when swap by ea method appears swap for ps2 cd backup by flip/slide and press x
5. your backup cd should boot

Could you be maybe having media issues? Are you burning at the slowest possible speed? Try maybe using top-quality media first and see if that works.

"Same CDR media"? Which brand of media would that be. And also, which version PS2 do you have?

I'm not sure about TDK CD-R media but I found their DVD-R's to be marginal at best in my friends v3 PS2. Note also that just because they worked for you before doesn't mean that the maker changed their manufacture process or facility for reasons of their own. This can mean that discs you bought before that worked are completely different now. See if you can get ahold of a few Verbatim Datalife Plus media and try those at 1x. The are the only company to date that has not changed their manufacturing facility since they started years ago. I'm pretty sure this will solve your problem.
