there are so many different kinds of Ritek DVDRs and I heard horrible story about Newegg selling RMAs. http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=225634

That's the first I've heard of RiDATA being crap. I've had zero problems with the RiDATA I've bought from newegg.

They are saying the purple wrapped Ritek from Newegg is a RMA, and should buy red wrapped.

I go to newegg quite often (oh does my bank account suffer) and am not familiar with the "purple wrapped" Riteks. Do you mean the RiDATAs in the cake box with the purple label? Maybe a link to the ones you're referring to would help me.

I usually buy the red shrinkwrapped RiDATA but I just bought a spindle of the cake box/purple label RiDATA though I haven't burned any yet.

Yes, the purple wrapped is RMA from OfficeDepot, while the red wrapped is genuine RiTek.

It's only a rumor, while the branded disks have been reported bad, no evidence of RMA'ed riteks has been given. Only some guys post. Ritek made an announcement about this issue, check out their website.

chinabee, I get all of my media (Ritek) from newegg.com. I get +R 8x, but I get the red wrapped spindles. I have had some coasters, but probably only 4 that were caused by the media being bad. That is out of 150 burns, so I know that I never got any RMA's.

If not counting my own fault, I get 0 even with all the Memorex, Philips and Platinum or whatever the garbage brand name is that i have been buying.
