Mac reaches 5.2 percent of worldwide computer sales, highest since 90s

Apple Macs have reached 5.2 percent of all worldwide computer sales, the highest total since 1996, says Needham & Co. analyst Charlie Wolf.
Growth, as expected, far outpaced the overall PC market, for the 22nd straight quarter.
Mac growth was a healthy 24.6 percent compared to 5.3 for the rest of the industry.

Congrats, Apple. I still wouldn't want one though. Overpriced, flashy PC with no real advantages.

I'd consider buying a used Mac at a decent price, they're pretty solid computers... But I'll never buy a new one ever again.
At least they hold up a good resale value though lol

I think there laptops are great. I personally prefer a custom built desktop but as far as laptops go, I'd always get a Mac. Trackpads are so fluent and responsive compared to other PC manufacturers, I haven't had a problem yet nor has my friends with their 4 and 3 year old laptops respectively. They are priced high but you end up saving in the end because in my experience PC laptops break down way too easily and they can be bulky, hot, and just unappealing to look at.

I don't find Macs to have a low quality construction... At least my old iMac didn't. That's the only reason why I would consider one again. And as for low performance, sure you definitely get half of what you pay for, brand new, but at Kijiji prices its fairly reasonable and I'd rather buy a Mac over some HP or Acer shit.
Currently using an Asus laptop with an i7 and a GT 540M though, basically comparable to a $2250 Macbook Pro and it only cost me $750. Only thing I could complain about is the LCD, but its quality doesn't bother me much anymore.

You can get a $300 Windows laptop that has just as much power as a $900 macbook...even if you buy one every 3 years, you are still breaking even on price while having better performance after 3 years and much better performance after 6. As for unappealing to look at, that is how I would describe the tiny screen on a $900 mac.
If you want to see mac quality, just go to the local bestbuy...keys missing from every macbook keyboard.

Lack of software? Only games are lacking but in terms of software you have plenty of options. And the software for Mac works better and looks better than the one from PCs. And you don't have to restart after every new install and uninstall. Low quality construction? Are you brainwashed, what can be sturdier than an unibody? In terms of performance they outclass many other laptops and in terms of industrial design there is no comparison with other makers. They have the best trackpads and the best keyboards...

I would never purchase a computer with closed architecture period.
You need Mac specific this and Mac specific that.
Macs are for people who just want to push the go button.
