Hi all, has anybody had any good experiences with Whitelabel Gen 4 DVD-R 2X sp using the pioneer DVR -104?
Bigpocket.co.uk is doing them for £69 for
pack of 100 discs (due to bulpaq being out of stock - they say). I currently use the whitelabel 1x speed discs and they are excellent. I also understand the firmware needs to be upgraded. Has anybody had good any succcess with this also?

I've had an incredibly high failure rate with White Label dvds (although by the sounds of things it's my writer giving me problems and not the media) but the ones that have worked seem to play fine in set-top dvd players.

whitelabel 1x and 2x work well in A03
unless on the label is the marked GOLD EDITION
these do not work fall-stop.
DATASAFE/WRITE 1x ,2x work good on ps2

Thanks batchy, I'll asume that the A03 is very similiar to the 104 and place my order with bigpockets soon.

Dont order those disks... very bad quality!!!

I have pioneer 104 and those disks have been failed 100%!!!

yes , i have an A04 and whitelable X2 are S**t.i have had 95% Success with bulkpaq Gen.3 (r2) , they are the ones Bigpockets that have run-out off!!!!

I have a pioneer 104/a04 and have used over 60 whitelabel gen 4 X2 disks so far without losing one.
My dvd's are readable in all 4 of my setop dvd players/recorders and my ps2 *cough* backups play faultlessly.
Cant say fairer than that.
The only thing I do is not use nero for dvd burning just for cdr's.
I have found prassi a bit clunky but rock solid for burning dvd's.

I have use those discs with 2X speed with prassi primodvd 2.0 and all failed... not even dvd-rom cant read the end of those disks...

80% of the movie playes well but the rest is like s**t...

Yep they were x2 speed.
Are you using win xp?
I think there may be issues with the pioneer a04/104 and xp.
I'm using win 2k with no probs.

I have an 104/A04 and a sh*t load of white-label dvds that I stupidly rushed out and bought without reading about DVD-R media. I have had a very high failure rate burning these discs however Bulkpaq Gen 3 work fine with certain tweaking within nero.

I use.
Philips DVD723 (settop)
Win XP
P4 1800
512mb DDR
Pioneer 104

Guys

I didn't order the White label 2x sp in the end.
The ones being sold at bigpockets are gold edition - not good it seems.

But instead I am now using Datasafe Media Classic: Two Speed and they are great - better than the Whitelabel single speed. They have smooth edges and burn at 2x speed using Nero and 104 pioneer...no problems when I backup a movie onto 2 discs and excellent compatability even with consoles - Brilliant
