TNW is reporting today that sources have told them the public Windows 8 beta will be released in February. The operating system has long been rumored to have a September 2012 release date, and the new beta date still leaves that month as a very viable option. Question: Why fix something that wasn't broke in the first place? While I understand that this UI is very radical and different, I don't see the practical use for it, just the cosmetics. It may be just me, but it's looks too much of a Windows 7 phone UIand the upcoming Metro UI on XBox to me.
