unable to install VOX TV tuner

I am SO in need of help!
I received a brand new MSI TV tuner - VOX 8609? - for my birthday, in March. I have been trying to work up my courage to try installing it since then.
Today I took the plunge, and installed the drivers (I think), then tried to install the device, and it will not accept the serial number.
I tried going to the MSI home page but could not find anything on this device's installation.
The instruction paper in the package is very sketchy.
Does anyone have any excperience with this item?
I use Windows 2000.
