According to some great research from Asymco, it appears that every Apple employee makes Apple $278 per hour in revenue.
Each store made $481,000 revenue per employee in 2010, up from $388,000 in 2009.
The average revenue per store visit is $45, and Apple had 250 million visits last year.
Asymco says there are 1 employee for every 10,000 annual visits.

There is more to it than just Apple store employees. What about all the Chinese building their products? Without them that 278 dollar per hour figure would be greatly reduced.
Or maybe Apple store employees are the best and most efficient employees on the planet, hmm?

Those aren't Apple employees, but subcontractor employees (who also make parts or assemble products for numerous other companies).
I think they are talking about gross revenue; not profits. Remember...when someone sells a $500 iPhone4S, there are about $200 in other costs involved, so they are really only making a $300 profit. Still, a $300 per device profit is pretty good when you figure that many android devices cost that much total.
