Recently my laser hasn't been able to read basically much of anything so my dad took it apart today because we figured dust was clogging it but then we realized we were stupid before after he put it back together the laser just wasn't able to read at all.

So now if anyone has any suggestions/links to where I could get a good/cheap (maybe $45 at the most) laser, or maybe ideas to where I can get it repaired, I'd appreciate it.

You can get a laser for about £40 (dunno how much that is in dollers). You will need to know what version your ps2 is so you buy the right one. You can get lasers off ebay or just search ps2 lasers in google to find some.

Well, a laser is going to run you about $70 U.S. just about anywhere you go. As far as a 'best one' generally Sony is the only brand out there that will work. Most of the ones you see are pulls from new or working used systems. My recommendation would be just to get one of the new v10 machines. They do not have laser problems.
