It appears that DVD Cloner 2, as so highly rated on this link below, has the same transcoding engine as DVD Shrink.

http://www.dvd-copy-software-review.com/dvd-cloner-ii-review.html

If anyones interested they can read links, concerning this issue here :-

The "publisher" of this "software" is based here :-

For all who have purchased this effort, you have my sympathies.

Thanks for posting this. It should serve as a warning to anyone who's considering buying the product. It seems like everytime something good and free comes along there's a den of thieves not far behind wanting to profit from it by ripping off the unwary.

astute observation, that's probably one of the very few I haven't bought in my quest for the best, easiest, quickest, and cheapest video software. Good call B-100

Ditto said the lurking bear. Seems there are a lot of thieves just assembling bundles of freeware and selling them to the unsuspecting public. I'd say a lot of novices don't even know they've been scammed.

What a crock, they listed cloner at 4 star, dvdcopy2 at 3 star, and IC8 at 2 star. Their prices were inflated also, IC8 at 40.00(can get it for 25.00)and cloner for 60.00. Imagine shrink for 60 bucks! Oh the terribleness and horribleness (ghost and mr. chicken) of it all.

Thanks for your sympathies. If DVD cloner ll were any easier to use I think that I'd fall asleep using it. I've burned over 30, flawlessly. Press one button and walk away, how can you go wrong. I guess some people will always have problems with ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they own. That's life.

The point is that DVD Shrink is free.

Everytime I burned with shrink it was flawless also, if by flawless you mean they were error free. Guess what, I didn't pay a dime for it!

By spending hard earned cash on software that has been stolen from others. Every "plug" for DVDcloner is a kick in the teeth for ALL independant software developers. Result : Everyone loses out.

How ironic "Pirates stealing from "Pirates. Sometimes it's hard to tell the good guys from the bad.

Don't pursue this area of discussion, your argument is about a piece of software not the Holy Grail. Someone else made its compression engine for free and if there's money to be made from this work then the author of Shrink should get it, he did all the work.

1. Independent software developers are not necessarily thieves.

2. Being a member of a discussion forum does not make one a thief.

3. Taking another person's property is theft.

4. Calling everyone a thief is questionable behavior.

5. Defending thieves is questionable.

6. Supporting thieves is questionable.

7. DVD Cloner = DVD Shrink; DVD Shrink is free therefore DVD Cloner should be free. (sorta get the comparison)

8. Taking someone's money for a free item is theft.

9. Sort of easy to tell the bad guy, he's the one ripping you off.

10. Trying to start an argument over no reason is shades of S-Y-K-E-S.

Dvd Shrink is free, but I understand you need the payed version of Nero to use it. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Absolutely not! Where did you get that? Decrypter will burn fine with it.

Decrypter will burn for free, but it is a backup. Decrypter is first a decrypter and second a burner. It's use as a burner is limited. The author of Shrink showed a favoritism for Nero as the Nero Burning ROM is the default burner for DVD Shrink. Some like to say Decrypter is the default backup, ... semantics. If you aren't familiar with Nero, try the 30 day free trial period. Just remember, they don't include the Recode2 software in the trial. Recode2 is a good DVD editing and burning program included in the retail pack. So, a person can use Nero with Shrink for 30 days free.

If you try it, don't open the InCD pack. That part of the suite causes problems with DVD recording software.

I've been campaigning the Clone 2 software for a little while here, not knowing about its relation to DVD Shrink.
My only question is how if DVD Shrink was stolen and basically repackaged as Clone DVD, isn't there some copywrite infringment? Is there a lawsuit?

I have heard that shrink won't accept funds of any kind, donations, etc. because it has something to do with shrink being able to get away with the removal of CSS. Since he makes no money off of it , I'm not sure copyright infringement applies here, but then I really have no idea. I'm just sneaking off from everryone to check out AD, Happy 4th!

Hey BigO. The old bear wasn't sneaky enough.

Whether it is copyright infringement or not, there are a lot of unsuspecting people getting ripped off. I guess the perp could say he was being paid for repackaging, wouldn't float in my pond though. Using what is freely given to take money from another constitutes theft in my book.

I teetotally agree brobear! What a crock, then on top of that you got people defending the ripoff! You been keeping up with Mr. Shrink in the other forum? He's now talking about another pass which will increase encode times dramatically, but also increase quality twofold. Wonder what Mr. Clone 2 will do then? I'd love to see it! (PS-doing a big no-no right now. Running RB/CCE while on the net, went back to an older version of CCE, seems as though the upgrade may be causing problems. Am hoping this will solve my remake incompatibility problems with RB/CCE)
