The Amazon Kindle Fire has just received its first "pre-alpha" ROM of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Because the ROM is so buggy, it is not recommended for installation unless you are a developer looking to help. The audio and video functions are still broken but the touchscreen, Wi-Fi and other standard features seem to be working just fine.

Bummer. Unless you have sound on your Fire, there's no point on getting this ICS, imo. That's what was one of the problems that the Fire had when rooting the device: no sound, but you could get Gingerbread though as long as was rooted. On the other hand, the Nook had sound along with Gingerbread as a rooted tablet so that was a plus. Still want to get he Asus Transformer Prime though, the mother of all tablets, well, at least for now it is until a year later, sheesh, it seems you can't keep up with the Jones's anymore no matter how hard you try tech these days comes and goes so fast.
