Windows 8 Recovery Environment aims to take the pain out of restoring your computer

Perhaps nothing raises the blood pressure of Windows users more than the prospect of restoring the operating system on their computers. Depending on whether your copy of Windows came with your computer or you bought it separately, the experience of reinstalling Windows can vary widely. Making matters worse, the experience of forgetting to backup an important file beforehand is nearly universal. ... [ read the full article ]

I don't know, NT BACKUP / ASR was as painless as it gets plus you don't actually need a floppy. Out of the millions of dollars worth of company information I have needed to backup, NTBACKUP/ASR was the easiest restore on the planet. Not one single problem and that's on VM Client servers as well.

You NEED to use some sort of backup and restore on your own - separate from the computer itself. ie. Norton Ghost and/or others.

WHAT good is a pc based recover or restore if it is that very system that is all virus infected???

All this on a fluffy OS that will probably not run programs that currently run on 7 with a gay, "metro" style interface. Besides, who decides the look of which the word "metro" gets attached to?

Either way......Win 8 will likely be as lame as Vista but (GOD willing) without so many technical problems.

MS has never been able to create a good backup program yet why not just leave this to third party developers that do a much better job. Examples - Casper, and Ghost.
