hi all,

just got my ps2 chipped with messiah chip. can't seem to play dvd-r ps2 backups. ps2 orignal works fine

DETAILS: scph 300003r ps2 (ver 5/6???)
messiah 2 chip (chipper told me my laser was maybe worn out, tested some jap import (orig or copy- dont't know) therefore cleaned lens(and poss adjusted??)
burnt driver 3 using verbatim datalifeplus dvd-r at 2x using alcohol 120% (no option to burn at 1x using media??don't know why??)

took me a while to figure out how to activate messiah chip. guy at shop told me to hold down reset button for 2 secs. im thinking i have activated it. half the time when i think the chip is active, i get a black screen, no ps2 boot screen. other times "red screen of death"

however, i think chip is workin becos i managed to get
to the white playstation 2 screen on game startup b4 it said unable to read data.

Q.is the chip installed correctly in ur opinion?
Q.im i activating the chip properly? if not how? (read 3 diff ways to activate messaih chip on net)
Q.any other medias u recommend?

please help. in the meantime, i am gonna try using dvd decryptor to burn and diff media that came with my burner and poss try dvd+r

The chip is already activated as soon as you turn on the system. You only have to hold reset for 2 seconds if you want to play ps1 games. Just turn the system on as normal and put in your back up and then see if it works.
