Hi,
I am really at a loss here, and I hope someone can help me. I have been going nuts the past few days trying to copy movies that came as Xvid avi's to DVD.
The source files came as PAL and I am trying to convert them to NTSC DVD.
I have been using this guide word for word: http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=222898
It works great for the video, but I am having major issues with the audio.
To try and keep this short, using virtualdubmov, avisynth, and tmpgenc, I have been able to encode and convert my avi's from pal to ntsc. This is encoding the video only. I use DVD Author to add the audio in during authoring.
The video is perfect. The problem comes in with the audio. Using avicodec, this is what I see with a test clip 1 min long.
" Video : 467 KB, 7000 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (16:9), MPEG2 = MPEG2 (VSCD/DVD), Supported".
I have been demuxing (saving to wave) the audio with vdm, and then using the newest besweet and gui, I am converting the audio to NTSC. Or at least trying.
Let me note, I have tried both demuxing and saving as ac3 and then going from pal to ntsc ac3 and saving as wav and going from wav to wav.
I have spent hours on end, and haven't been able to find the right combination. The results when done have been usually, no audio at all, once, when using ac3, I did get audio, but it was speeded up.
The last ac3 I made, opened in goldwave shows it as pcm, signed 15 bit, 48000hz, 1536 kbps.
So now, I have 5 mv2 files, and can not add audio to any of them.
The only one that has worked so far, was an avi that was originally NTSC, so I believe my problem lies in the conversion somewhere. Either in Tmpgenc or converting the audio.
I just tried encoding another one, this time using tmpgenc to do the audio stream as well, but using lame as the decoder, and I do have audio, it starts out okay, but then really goes out of synch.

Since I feel fairly comfortable using VDM, Besweet, Tmpgenc, etc.. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what I did wrong. Hopefully, it's just an audio conversion error and I can use the 6 m2v files I have now rather than spending close to 70 hours re encoding the avi's again.

If someone can lend a hand and try to help me figure out what I am doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sarah
