T-Mobile designates six Android phones as "near EOL"

article published on 30 January, 2012

It looks like T-Mobile is preparing for a whole new lineup of Android devices this spring. Six popular phones have been designated "near EOL (end of life)," meaning their time left on the carrier is likely short. However, the designation could also mean that they just have an overabundance of inventory, which they expect to last for some time. The devices are the HTC myTouch 4G Slide, ... [ read the full article ]

That's one of the things I hate about some Androids. Discontinued after less than a year. I remember my G2 that I got in Dec. 2010 and then it was discontinued in the summer of 2011.

Yes, very disconcerting.

However, I love my G2 and don't care lol but you know that's just how the tech field is. Try to find anything that stays relevant longer than a month or three and you'll be looking indefinitely.

Really tho -- who cares what a service provider says? Until HTC, Samsung, etc. pronounces them EOL then they're still good to go. And even then, most high end mobile phones continue to see a very useable life long behond EOL pronouncement due to 3rd party dev support (like XDA). My Sprint HTC Evo 4G is still one of the best phones out there because of all the dev support it has had (and still does have). The Evo 4G success has little if anything to do with any support (or not) from Sprint.
