Hello everyone. I have made a movie with a DV camcorder. I have encoded it with TMPGEnc in 2 files, which afterwards I converted to DVD format with DVD-Lab (I also tried IFOEdit). Now, the problem I get is this: The playback of the DVD I have just created is slow, jagged, not smooth at all. The MPEG2 file is OK, but the DVD plays back awfully. I have looked for an answer on the site, but did not find one. Can you please, please help me? I read most tutorials, I do not think I did something wrong.

Could you tell us what media (DVD brand)you are using to burn to.

Poor quality media will often cuase the type of problems you are experiencing.

Also are you using labels on your DVDs?

How large is the file and whats the compression ratio?

Hello, I have not burned anything yet.
I am using 8000kbits/sec bitrate, VBR Mpeg1 Layer2 Audio, Rate Control Mode - 2 Pass VBR, Motion Search Precision - High Quality, 720x576 rez, File size: 1495MB compressed from a 5Gb file.
These are the specs I used in TMPGEnc. Any ideas?

I believe that your bitrate maybe too high.

Isn't that compression rate way out of line? Since going under 70% can start causing problems in a lot of cases. And since a 4.7 disc holds about 4.3 GB data. Why not lower the compression to have the file for this project come in at about 4.2 GB? Over compressing always causes problems. If my math is right and I understand what is going on, with a 5GB file and a 4.0GB target size you would be at 80% compression, well above the danger zone.
