Just one year after starting their "paywall," the New York Times is making it even harder to read free articles.
The company has 480,000 paying subscribers, so the paywall has been very successful.
Readers with free accounts can read up to 20 articles per month currently, but as of next month that number will be cut in half to just 10 free articles per month.

NYT tried the same thing ~ five years ago. Didn't work then and I doubt it will work now. Their website has tons of adverts to score plenty of money without being greedy. In the day before the Internet, that's how home delivery worked. Tip the paperboy pay the minimal bill and be done with it.
You are right, all you have to do is clear cookies and browsing history.
