azareus or kazaa?

Im a newbie who has been using kazaa for about 4 months (minus spyware!) getting good results music wise but not so much for film and tv.

Now Ive downloaded bittorrent java and azareus and have tried downloadind from Slyck and suprnova.
but win media player wont play file.

As i said Im a newbie so I think im missing some important links between programmes and apps

Getting dvd burner soon, but before then I just want to download files as quick as i can from reliable sources.. so kazzaa or imesh or winmex

or bittorrent

help me fill in the many gaps in my knowledge
