In the US, you can find the PHILIPS DVP 642, which plays all DVD formats, including Divx. It is extremely easy to make it Region-free and it plays PAL as well as NTSC. It costs $69.95 at WalMart.
There is an equivalent with a slightly different number available in Europe. I think it is the PHILIPS DVP 630. You should have no difficulties finding it.

I've never heard of the brand. The features are very extensive but similar to the Philips unit. This one DOES have a SCART outlet(not that useful anymore) and a VGA outlet(interesting and unusual feature). If you can pick it up for less than $70 (or equiv in QD), this may be a good option. Return policy to be looked at. Good luck.

Hi, the best divx/dvd player available in the U.K. is the KISS DP 1000 - it even plays bin and cue files burned on a image cd. You can get it from Nickknows.com for around 110 pounds quick delivery.

I recently bought the "Medion MD40814 DivX Multi-region DVD player" from Amazon. Its outstanding.
Its multiregion straight out of the box and it plays AVI's, MPEG's....and loads more too. For £49.99 its brilliant.

yep......you can fill the CD/DVD up with AVI's MPEGs, whatever you want, or a mixture of both and they all show up in the menu system.
Well worth 50 quid mate.

sorry don't know about the subtitles, as I never use them.
Haven't tried the rmvb files...if you have a small file of this type (yahoo accept attachments up to 10 Mb), mail it to me and I'll try it.
Cheers

garyevs: edit out your Email address ASAP. Bad idea to have it out there... In the future send a private message to give somebody your Email address.

I bought a PH DVP630/02 today...
a wonderful player which easily plays DVD-/+R and RW
and the region was easy to choose also...
it's just like the perfect player...
it does play avi's if they are coded with DivX or XviD
just so you know =)
