I recently brought the NEC DVD RW from NegEgg. Installed the drive in my desktop and everthing looks ok, CD are playing good however can't watch any of the DVD.
What is causing this problem? and If its a S/W issue then what s/w i should download so that I can watch the DVDs from the computer.
Please help. Thanks

At the top of the page click on the Software tab. Type PowerDVD or WinDVD in the search box. You will get a link to download the trial version. The trial versions will have a limited playing time and will only work for a limited number of days unless you pay to register.

There is a free player, Media Player Classic. You can type that in that search box also. It doesn't have all the features of those other two and may not work quite as well but it is free.

Will the installation of WinDVD or PowerDVD will resolve the issue of playing DVDs on NEC 8X DVD+RW/-RW Drive, Model#-2500A, OEM Bulk?

It isn't as issue with the drive itself, it's an issue of your system needing the correct codec to play DVD movies.

You need either PowerDVD or WinDVD since they both install the correct codec. The codec they both use must be liscensed and paid for by the company putting out the software DVD players so you can't download the codec free.
