ive been backing up my buffy dvd collection recently and i have come to a problem. ive been using dvdxcopy express and up untill season5 disc 1 all was well but for some reason it wont copy this disc, ive also tried disc 2 but no joy there eather disc 3 went trew fine! im stumpt. all that happens is it starts up then 10 seconds later the program crashes and i have to end it. ive tried doin these 2 with dvd shrink also and with dvd 1 it says "encountered error" "exception occurred" and with dvd 2 it says "runtime error" and terminate the program. i thought it might be the disc's them selves so i rented them and its the same deal with the rental ones, whats up with this thing? im gonna have an incompleate collection at this rate and its gonna suck!

To get the best answer for this question, you will probably will won't to post it in the afterdawn's DVDXCOPY forums. My best guess is that it would be the discs themselves. You mentioned that you also rented them. I know from experience that rentals are usually the worst treated disc around, marks here and there all over the material. You might want to carefully examine the disc, carefully checking for any significant damage. Try using a gamedoctor or something if you have one. As one last variable, try the program SmartRipper, and rip the IFO, just to see if that works with the disc. You can get the program on this site.
thanx for the help. i own these disc's my ones dont copy so i rented them to see if it was just my discs but i had the same problem with them too. i will try SmartRipper and see it that works.

Now things you can try:
In you other thread you said you were using Xpress RF w/ DVD43. Is this still true? If so, uninstall DVD43, and get 321rip: http://321rip.tripod.com/

ok ive done the 321 ripper thing, thats ace thankyou i didnt realise that was out there. and ive done the asp layer thing too it said its installed a new one so i will give it a go tomorow as ive lent the bad discs to a mate to try, il have tham back tomorow. il let you know if i manage to get these babys coppied hehe. get your fingers crossed guys :)
