Okay, here's what I did. Since I am using Win98 and I don't have an NTFS partition, I ripped half the movie to fit on one side of the dvd, and I want to rip the other half of the movie to put on the other side of the dvd. I have double sided dvd-r discs. I burned the first half of the movie fine, but my question is how do I burn the second half of the movie if now there's not .IFO files? For the first half I ripped the .IFO file and the first 2 .VOB files and it made it one big .IFO file. So now if I rip the last files, which are 2 .VOB files, there is no .IFO file with it to make it one big .IFO file. Will this play back? What should I do to make this work? Thanks in advance.

I have tried taking the high number vob's and importing them in to quickbuilder, but 50% of the time I get "This file not in VOB format" but it obviously is vob format. It will work if I import vob #1 first, and then the others after it merged in to 1 big file, but this is just irritating. Is there any other program that can be used to import vob files without using the first 1?

I did my first movie okay splitting it in halves. But now when I copied the Fast and the Furious I get the same message. The first half plays okay, but when I try to build the last two files I get a message saying this file isn't in vob format also. What do I do about this?

with quickbuilderdemo, you don't need the .ifo files.Just take , let's say, 4 .vobs...this is 4 gb...merge them with vobmerge, it is relative quickly...import the file into quickbulderdemo, then create dvdfiles on hdd for simulation.Use nero and copy the result on dvd. Then take the rest . vobs, only vobs, you dont need any .ifo, merge them ...etc, etc...

Okay, my problem is that when I try to rip the last two files and merge them together, then try to use quick build, it says they're not in vob format. Also when I watch them in media player, there's no sound. It worked for the first half of the movie. What do I do?

what program did you use to merge them?
Try to name the file with .vob extension.
What movie is it?

What I did was ripped half the movie with DVD Decrypter and told it to merge them while ripping. Then I ripped the other half the same way, but it won't let me build the second half. I noticed it let's me build it with only if the first .vob file is part of it. I'm trying to copy Fast and the Furious. I was able to copy Blow doing it this same way. By the way, I read your post on a different thread that said you use 2 dvd's for a movie. You can buy double sided dvd-r. That's what I do. I put half on one side, and the other half on the other. Any suggestions on what to do to make this work? I'm going to add the first file in with the last two then after building it I'll delete the first file and what goes with it. Do you think that will work?

no, this is wrong...do NOT use merge from dvd encripter...just rip the .vobs, then merge them with vob merge, look up, there is a link...that's why is not working, couse dvd encripter works only for the hole movie...

and if the movie is 5,3 , you can use infoedit, but verion 0.8, you can take out the langueges you don't need, and it will be shorter..for example, Highlander..final fight, or something...it is a little bit longer, like 4,4 gb, and as you know you can write like 4,3...without the unnecesary languages, it is 3,9...if you don't know hou to use infoedit e-mail me...

I tried renaming it again and it still won't work. Quick builder says it's not a vob format file. It will only recognize the first vob file as a vob format.

I open it up and check off the box for the dvd style 1, then when it says to pick my file, I do, and it says that file is not in .vob format. But I've done this before with the movie Blow and it worked.

I'm using vob merger, but I know it works, I've done it before. Quick builder will only let me build a file with the first vob file in this movie.
