I just bought a power Mac G4 because I heard that they were really good with music and video. Now it seems that Limewire is the only decent way to download music and video....and it is impossible to get most of the (less popular) music on this. Can anyone experienced with Mac's give me some suggestions.
I heard that Sputnix was good, but it seems that they are in the middle of a lawsuit and not working. I am starting to really miss Kaaza and Bearshare. I just thought that since the Mac has all of this great stuff for digital music (i-tunes 3, i-pod, ect....) than it would support more sites such as kaaza.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ian L.

That sucks....considering I bought a Mac because I wanted to have a powerful computer for music, video, dvd ect. I just thought there would be more file sharing sites that were written for mac...but I guess PC's get most of the good stuff, because Limewire is only so-so...it does not have some of the less popular groups and songs.
I went to a site called edonkey2000 and it said that they had a download for OSX...but it did not work.
Oh well, maybe I will have better luck backing up my DVD and PS2 collection.
thanks

I use Acquisition - go to xlife.org for download- although new version is for OSX 10.2 or higher only. It's freeware, but they do ask you to donate, it's simple and no spyware to deal with. I can usually find what I want - it just seems that certain times of the day are better than others. Make sure to go into preferences and choose a larger number of networks to connect to!

I have OS 9.2.2, is there a version of Acquisition for that Operating System, if so, i'd like to try it out... I went to xlife and found the new version for OSX, but couldn't find a way to locate an older version...any suggestions?

Acquisition doesn't work for OS 9 - I know a lot of my friends use Limewire for OS 9 - here is a link for that
http://www.limewire.com/index.jsp/download
You can download the free version or pay 9.50 for Pro version. Good luck !

Limewire is good. But so is Acquisition for OS X.
But with Acq. there is no filtering tool to block porn. It's sad to say but you get much better results with Bearshare and Morpheus but those only work on Winblows systems.
So we Mac fans must work with Limewire and Acquisition.
