Google has updated their listing of the unlocked HSPA+ version of the Galaxy Nexus, implying that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is on the way.
The description, in the company's Google Play Store, now says "Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ ? The latest smartphone from Google, soon the first phone with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean..."
Unfortunately, there isn't much else to go on, but it doesn't seem to be a Google typo.

that's right, i also feel that android will never be able to get the user experience of iOS unless android works more on update than on upgrade. i am symbian user, and although it does not have the punch of android/iOS, it still feels nice. let's hope windows 8 brings the capability we always wanted in android/iOS.
Isn't a lot of people still on a variation of ver. 2.X? See how you can integrate updates across all android phones regardless of manufacture. Google should focus on that.
Another idea would allow for the end user to have updates from Google replace their phones overlay and have a generic Android one if they so choose. Just a thought.
Is like to see nexus-style roms available without root...I can understand voiding a warranty because the phone is overclocked, but not because I wanted to replace the launcher with one that loads menus quickly. I know you can install new launchers, but the original remains so that does not help much. I'd also love to see the option to completely remove bloatware; even if you use the apps that come with the phone, you are most likely using updated versions and the original apk is just wasting space. Those are the two main reasons I rooted...overclocking to the spec speed of the CPU was just an afterthought.
Of course, there are tons of things I would change about android if I could...it may be my favorite mobile os, but that doesn't mean I like it much.

Right there with you. I too have rooted most of my devices just because I primarily didn't want the bloat & subsequently got performance boosts in the process.
My other 'fear' would be that Google is using these releases like Mozilla does with FireFox & calls them 'new software or uprades' rather than 'updates'. Kind of like putzing with the wrong end of the update numerals.
Equally so, I 'get it' that Google can't write the software for all hardware parameters that exist out there, but like it has been delivered to my Asus tablet of resent - the manufacturer can most certainly do their part & fix their own shit to proper specks or suffer the consequences too.
At some point capitalism needs to cower to consumerism once again. [I probably got that wrong, but maybe a few got the feel for what I'm saying]
This all makes sense since the new Google tablet is set to be announced/released in the next few days. It has all kinds of cool specs (which are still rumors) just not sure I can live with a 7" screen. Now that we have 64gb sd cards, things are getting exciting with android tablets. I only hope this little guy can play 720p mkv's! I'm off topic now, the rumor is this will be the first tablet with 4.1 which means I am jumping over my phones 2.3.6 and my tablets 3.1 (both are rooted and overclocked and I have not dived into the changing roms territory yet).

Android can't ever be like iOS that's copyrighted and trademarked to Apple, for me I don't want android the same as iOS I hate iOS I find it far too simplistic just for that sake of some people not being able to work out how to use it.
UiQ was better nokia should have moved with that but they shut it down.
